I can't view "My Snipes".
I get an error page that has "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
It's making me crazy.

Not much help to ya, but wanted to let you know 'My Snipes' is working for me, so it's not a site down problem.
Give it another try and maybe you'll hook up with a different server.
Screen refresh may not work. Try closing the window and starting over.

If that doesn't work, do what I did and shut your computer down and reload. It cleared it up for me.

My guess is you have a corrupt snipe somehow. It happens once in a while. We seem to fix something like that for a user once or twice a month.

I swear to you Puppy, Steve got me in the habit of deleting cookies every night and I have done it for a long, long time with not a problem!
I like to eat cookies, not delete them. I am another ad-aware fan.

Ok, guys, now..tell me exactly what will happen???? And, WHY do they make cookie delete programs and why do I have a place to delete it?
My only comment about deleting cookies in this thread was to Lexie for getting New Since Last Visit to work, and was meant as a 'funny'.
Some cookies are bad and need to be deleted, but the good ones I want to keep. Use the free version of Ad-aware. That will scrub the bad ones, and leave the good ones that are very handy to have.

Yes, I understand, Puppy. I am always being told NOT to delete them. For what reason are the "good" ones to be used ? I am not arguing, but I really don't "get it"!

I do it right in my control panel! I do believe I am doing that. I know it keeps someone or thing from following me through the net. That is why Steve told me to do it in the first place.

Good things cookies do:
let web sites remember you so you don't have to log in all the time
save your personal preferences for options available on a site
remembers where you've been and what you've seen so it's not displayed as 'new' to you over and over
It's perfectly safe to delete cookies - or to leave them - unless you have tons of them. Then you'll notice things like (in internet explorer at least) not being able to view the source for a web page. Even then, clearing your history and temporary files usually regains enough memory to get things working again.

Excuse me, Lexie? I don't think I said that. In the above I was refering to advertisers, spoof mail people, etc.
I'm using Netscape 7.1 which gives a good measure of control over cookies. I refuse cookies from almost all sites except those I trust/have business with.
When the system asks permission to set a cookie I have the choice of allowing or denying it and my decision then applies to all future cookies from that site so I'm not bothered again.
It's also possible to go into the cookie manager and edit the contents. I like the control it gives (control-freak!).
Most of those sites I allow cookies from are mail-order places. It seems that when you put items in your "basket" the details are stored on your own computer as a cookie, so you need to enable them.
