First snipe tonight!

I can't speak for others, but I wouldn't use less than 5 seconds myself.

Many seem to prefer 8 seconds but I've stuck with the default 5 and haven't missed out yet. provided I've set a high enough amount.

Hondo - you need to realise that the person who wins on ebay isn't the last bidder but the highest bidder. It's the same if you're bidding manually, sniping manually or using a service such as AS.

All AS does is snipe on your behalf as late as possible so that no-one can respond to your bid, thus creating a bidding war.

So set you max (search for 'Proxy Bidding' on eBay's help), set the lead time to 8 seconds and chill...

Hondo, welcome to our forum! I use 8 seconds to snipe and add on during busy times such as the hour, half, or quarter, and on Sunday PM between 5:30 and 8 PST. And as R2 said, always bid your max,. Then, if you loose, you'll know the other guy paid too much!

Well I won!

I set it to 5 and the bid came in 8 secs to go. I'm a high ebay useer and unserstand it comes down to the max price. Just having the last bid helps keeps that down. If I really want it I have a high max and others simply push my price up.

I usesd to use bidslammer and they always bid in the last 1-2 seconds.

Still this is heaps clearer to use, cheaper and from what I've read reliable.
