That's got my vote.

Some people read instruction manuals, and some don't. Some people read faqs, and some don't. Some people use the "search" feature in this forum, and some don't. Some people are intimidated by new software, and some aren't.

I imagine that if we looked at the 1st post left by many of us frequent posters we would see that the question they left had already been answered several times by Sara.
I thought you guys would be sick of answering the same questions again-and-again. I know when I check the forum to see any good suggestions, comments, or well-won stories, I get tired of reading the same complaints... and I'm sure the AS support team do.

But if you are all happy answering those kind of posts, perhaps the FAQ isn't necessary.

If Sara is an "only", I think she's this forum's "only" advocate. Since I don't see anyone else, she must take the suggestions and problems posted here and try to get her company's management, or programming staff, "inspired" to implement the necessary changes. And, she seems to check on this forum 7 days a week, and keeps some very long hours.
A list of FAQ's doesn't preclude forum participants from answering questions. It might simplify things for Archive Man, though. He could just link to the appropriate FAQ instead of doing searches on the entire forum!

It might even be fun for forum participants to come up with the best reply. It could be like a contest. Sara seemed to think maybe it's something AS should come up with, but it might be better if it were Forum written. As a bonafide forum member, Sara can participate in the reply contest! Smile

Or maybe each FAQ should be a separate topic, and everybody on the forum that wants can have a go at a reply. Then when the same question arises anew, we can STILL answer specifically as we desire, but somebody can also post a link to the appropriate FAQ topic.

Thinking a FAQ section could be useful.

Jabbergah Cool
I must say I like Beezo's idea. It would answer alot of the common questions.
Mrs M and Rick dont need to worry about losing their forum contributions...as Rick pointed out....some people will read and the ones that wont/dont will come in here with their questions.

Its a WIN/WIN in my book Smile

Lets make a list and then this is one suggestion I'll make sure gets done ASAP.

beezo has provided 2. I'm afraid my list has gone over 10, but here's some (not listed in sequence of importance):
- Why is AS sending sellers spam? (InstaMail, but don't think AS would like that one).
- Paypal versus credit card?
- Why didn't my Paypal payment get applied?
- Where's my free referral snipes?
- How do I see who I referred?
- Why was my snipe placed 5 seconds early?
- Can't you give me an option to tell AS whether to pad lead time based on ebay's traffic.
- I've won a 1,000 snipes using AS, but since I lost one on Sunday night at 7:30:00 PM with a 3 second lead time I'm beginning to have doubts.
- Why am I a Junior sniper and how do I become a Goddess?
- Multiple snipers - who wins?
- Bid increments, bid increments, and everything that deals with bid increments.
- Why did I win by one penny?
- Can I bid against myself?
- Why snipe?
- Why didn't my max bid get placed on a Reserve Auction?
- Why did my bid jump up so much on a Reserve Auction?
- Should I place a proxy bid on BIN?
- I can't snipe because my password/ID thingy doesn't match.
- Why can't I cancel a snipe 1 second before ending?
- Why isn't the price on My Snipes current?
- What's wrong with the "Search" feature?
- Why does it show "Ready" when the auction is done?
- I've been out bid and why hasn't AS notified me?
- Why did the bid group win too many auctions (not bid group)?
- Why didn't the bid group bid (expired bid group)?
- How can I place a snipe on multiple items but only win one?
- How can I place a snipe on multiple items, but must win them all?
- Will items with similar ending times in a bid group work?
- I couldn't sign on (Friday AM maintenance).
- My snipe was 30 minutes early (Friday AM maintenance).
- Why don't you post the Friday AM maintenance schedule?
- What's a proxy outbid?
- I "swear" a) I didn't add that snipe; b) I canceled that snipe; c) I already turned off InstaMail; d) I don't cheat on my taxes nor do I speed.
- What currency will my snipe be placed in.
- In my bid amount I put the currency symbol for the Civil War Confederacy and AS said it was invalid.
- Can I be signed on when my snipe is placed?
- Do I need to be signed on when my snipe is placed?
- I placed a proxy bid, and you didn't snipe, why AM I charge?
- Should I snipe a Dutch auction?
- Can you add support to keep track of my lost snipes?
- I read all these negative post - how can I trust AS?
- My ebay password was hacked - how can I trust AS?
- Where does Mrs. M get all those neat pictures?
- I have a REALLY, REALLY important auction, and my wife will kill me if I don't win.
- Can I put a link to AS on my auctions?
- Why should I pay AS money when I can snipe manually?
- Why do so many snipers come from Australia and use funny words, and who is Robbie Williams?
- Is there no honor among snipers (hasn't come up for awhile, but Chatter and Christine probably remember).

Feel free to add to this list. I'm sure I've overlooked some. Wink

What funny words do we use? ...you mean words with "S" instead of "Z" like in "localise"? Or do you mean "Mum" instead of "Mom", or maybe "G'Day"?

and whats this about honour (not honor) among snipers? is that like not getting two snipers trying to outbid each other? or maybe once someone posts what they are after, making sure you don't hijack their auction because you like the item too?

and there aren't that many Aussies on here are there? now its got me wondering...

Rick, you and I have sure seen and answered enough of them to see it happen. Wish our Steve was around. He could take it back to AS's birth! Smile I recall the first snipe I placed. It was on something over a thousand dollars. I was so jittery! There was not any written list that would have taken the place of the personal advise from you and Steve! I read the faq. Roll Eyes

Yelp. That's it, or both of them. It's been awhile, but a ways back for a month or two we had 3 or 4 (maybe the same person with different ID's) users get on and talk about the honour/honor of snipe. If anyone is interested, I'd suggest a search on "honor". You can try "honour" if you prefer. Big Grin

Every group has certain slang words, but Australia is famous for it. I've been curious why that is? Was it due to it being isolated? Was it due to a pioneer spirit that wanted to thumb their collective noses at England? Was is an accident? Was there an influence from the native population? Just a curiosity, or maybe I have too much time on my hands.
