Since we have had so many posts on the strategy of bidding here is a puzzle I haven't been able to solve. In a recent auction (winner list below) q_99 was the winner. How is it that q_99 bid shows 05:11:47 i.e. before the bids from others yet he never appeared in the list previously? When was his bid placed with Ebay and why didn't it show up earlier like it would with a Proxy bid.

Doing some research I found the following explanation. Ebay members page:
http://members.ebay.com/ws2/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=sniperbill
What happened was:
q_99 placed a proxy bid of an amount greater than $59.58 at 5:11 on Sep-14. His bid would have shown up at that time slight higher that hitman357's. Various bidders came an d went between this time and Sep-14 20:59. But q_99 proxy outbid them all until he won!
Cool
Sorry I didn't get to this sooner... yep your exactly right. Here is the auction.
(be around a little more often once search is fixed)

Bid history at eBay is in amount order. The following is sorted by day/time.
First bid placed is line #1. That should make it easier to follow the auction.
Two additional columns have been calculated and added. They are the current
bid and high bidder, as displayed on eBay after each bid is placed. v2.1.09
* = Winning bid.

That's a very nice layout Puppy ! Thanks.

The confusion arises because Ebay in the final winners lists does not display all the intermediate action - as it were. Hence Ebayers may be led to believe there is some 'unfair' play going on. I've been an Ebayer for a few years now. Only recently did I found out about "Sniping". It sure saves a lot of time and energy with all the tools that one gets with the AS. Ps. I have also tried EZ... but thats another story !

Wink
