I think I may have been duped by a buyer. They bought several items off me adding up to a fair amount of money and I had 2 initial emails from her and then nothing for 11 days. I have sent 3 emails since and was wondering what you would suggest ? I have ppl emailing me asking to buy the goods if the winner falls through.

Oops forgot to mention they have a (0) rating and I dont know of anyway of checking whether they have been bidding on other items or not

There could be a lot of valid reasons why you haven't heard from the buyer, including major computer hardware crash, family or personal emergency...that sort of thing. Have the e-mails you've sent been received, that is, have they just gone off into cyberspace unanswered or have they bounced back as "addressee unknown?"

I don't know whether eBay has any rules governing how long a seller must wait for a buyer to complete the transaction. I'd give the buyer a little longer...say, two or three weeks before declaring a "no sale" situation and re-selling the items. After all, the "contract" that eBay is so fond of saying exists between buyer and seller cuts both ways.
Greetings,

This has happened to me on eBay before. Roll Eyes What I would recommend is using eBay's Second Chance Offer to the next highest bidder. Preferably take this step as soon as possible. Let the second highest bidder know the situation and that way you are not completely out in the cold. This can be a tricky situation, the wait and see thing, where you aren't sure if you should proceed or wait and see if they will pay. I've been there, with 3 deadbeats right now actually. Check out my site for more info: eBay DeadBeats

NOTE: Be sure and follow through with eBay's Non-Paying Bidder steps and hopefully at least the deadbeat will become a non-registered user and after 3 warnings will be booted from eBay indefinitely.

Hope this helps in some small way! Frown

Check out this great site: Razz
MSG TAG for a free email tagger.

This tag attaches discreetly to the email you send and notifies you (by an auto-reply email) when your recipient opens and reads your email. No more optional read receipts necessary!

It does this email tag automatically for FREE! Check it out! Smile

Directly from MSGTAG website:

Message tags notify you the moment your messages are opened
When your email is viewed at its destination, MSGTAG lets you know. You receive notification from MSGTAG telling you that your message has been opened. The notification also details when the message was sent, when it was viewed, and what the delay has been in between.

How is MSGTAG different from the read receipts you already get in Outlook and other email programs?
Unlike traditional read receipts, MSGTAG doesn't hassle your recipient with pop-up boxes — it's completely automatic — and you can send tagged messages to practically any email address, including Hotmail and Yahoo addresses.

PRETTY COOL, HUH? Big Grin

Ok, I sent her another email and then did the "non paying bidder' thingie but only the first part where ebay send her a payment reminder. Well low and behold I heard from her, "puter broke, been in the shop blah blah blah....will deposit funds now" that was on the 14th, its now the 18th (in aussie) and I have never had a problem with deposits before. I am still sitting and waiting and spose I will give her yet another chance. Roll Eyes

You can find out what any bidder is bidding on regardless of whether they are the high bidder or not. When you click on 'search' and the search page comes up click on the 'By Bidder' tab. Enter in the bidders username and you can search for all items they have bid on, even completed items!

It's a very handy tool!

Thanks, Sharon. It is indeed a very useful tool, and I check out bidders that way frequently to see what their bidding patterns, apparent bid limits, etc. are. However, the entire phrase you quoted from reads: "Oops forgot to mention they have a (0) rating and I dont know of anyway of checking whether they have been bidding on other items or not." If there's a zero feedback rating, chances are very good that the person hasn't done much previous bidding to check up on. Smile
