This has happened to me on eBay before.

What I would recommend is using eBay's Second Chance Offer to the next highest bidder. Preferably take this step as soon as possible. Let the second highest bidder know the situation and that way you are not completely out in the cold. This can be a tricky situation, the wait and see thing, where you aren't sure if you should proceed or wait and see if they will pay. I've been there, with 3 deadbeats right now actually. NOTE: Be sure and follow through with eBay's Non-Paying Bidder steps and hopefully at least the deadbeat will become a non-registered user and after 3 warnings will be booted from eBay indefinitely.
