Cannot Log On

Basrah, are you sure you entered your correct username and/or password? I know that sounds like a dumb question, but that would create the effect you describe. I just logged in a few minutes ago and had no problem whatever.

...you get "Username and password do not match." message when you mess up so it's not that. This always happens when you try to log on on a Friday - I've asked before and been told that it is when the systems are down for maintenance.

Not a problem, but it would be nice if you got a message come up. This was kinda suggested but obviously not implemented by AS.

Commercially, would it not make sense to inform your customers why their product 'appears' to be not working? It cannot be that hard to implement!

I suppose it's a matter of what time you try to sign in on a Friday. Obviously, I'm in a much different time zone from yours. But I certainly agree that a little graphic of an open manhole or something to indicate that maintenance work is being done would be appropriate.

We're down from 1-3am for maintenace. For the past 5+ years this has been when eBay has done their maintenance too.

I think they just announced at eBay live that they may not be doing it anymore as they dont need to. We still do need to do a little. We'll try and shorten the time we are offline. It's currently less than 30 minutes as we make database backups and do some things that are best done with no users in the system.

...do you intend to have some method for letting us know what's going on?

Having joined AS this week and trying to access my account on Friday morning I hit exactly the same problem. I have no issue with the necessity of a maintenance window but surely its not rocket science to put up a page saying "We are down for maintenance" rather that just cycle back to the login page with no info.
btw I could find no reference to details of the maintenance window other than on this forum.
