Apparently AS uses servers that
are in sync with Ebay servers - thus snipes go through as directed.
but
If your failed snipe was for Sunday evening (USA time!) then the problem is likey to be this:
Sunday Evening (USA Time) is a very busy time for eBay - many auctions finish at this time and, especially on the quarter hours, the servers can be very slow responding. AS copes with this (so they tell us!) by monitoring the response times and extending the lead times of the snipes. Sadly it's not an exact science and some bids (allegedly) don't get placed in time. Seasoned snipers, wise to this, extend their lead times on auctions that end on Sunday evenings (USA time!).
So jordonr, what to do here? Take a look at AS's response to your snipe. Does it say 'not in time' and finish on a Sunday evening (USA time!)? Was your lead time set to 1 second in the mistaken belief that the last bid wins? If so, next time, set the bid to your max (read up on eBay's proxy bidding by clicking
[_ here _]) and choose a lead time of, say 8 seconds or even 30 seconds for Auctions that end on Sunday evening (USA time).
Hope that makes sense - if not, ask away and someone may be able to help.
