That looks fuel efficient, Mike, but I prefer sending tourist around in this mobile home:

It uses a renewable source of energy, especially when there are wars going on, and it provides employment as well as affordable housing (retirement plan isn't all that hot).

Row, row, row your boat.

For a minute, Rick, I thought they were foolball hooligans!
The Lillebror is very efficient if you tow it with this....

...by the time I got through all of that plate bit, it would be time to renew it...
In the UK the car's number stays with it for its life - we have a seperate tax disk which is renewed annually (or 6 months at a premium). So there is a big market in Number plates being transfered to other cars with numbers like COM1C fetching fortunes.
Our plates have a letter on them with which to identify the year of manufacture
Eg. ABC 123 G ---> G is 1968
then when those ran out we reversed them:
Eg. L 919 TBD <-- L being the year letter!
Recently we switched to:
LL 51 ORD <-- 51 being the 6 month period
All very complicated! more>>>

Mike, that is a sweet car! Is that you and your wife? And what is a Kelly Kettle?

Hi Shirl
Yep - that's us, and Joyce's car. 1981 Citroen Dyane - aircooled 2 cylinder, 602cc, 50 mpg, 85 mph. Been all over Europe in it - France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Italy in last 2 years.
Kelly Kettle - boils 2 pints of water in 4 mins - runs on twigs, paper, anything!
KK Here!
666 ramblings:

The book of the Revelation was written in the first century AD (by John, I believe) during the twilight of the Roman empire. The number system, thusly, was roman numerals, i.e. I, V, X, L, C, D, M, etc. The actual number, 666, would correctly be represented as DCLXVI. However, what if the vision the author of Revelation had was something that he did not understand or recognize, so it was (mis)-interpreted as something else he could relate to. For instance, could the "beast" actually be the wide-ranging cyberland of the internet world & world wide web. And the "mark of the beast", which was sort of recognized as "VIVIVI", was actually "WWW"???? Eek Hmmmm.....? Confused

Back to number plates - I worked out that
WY 51 WYG
would be good to have - sadly it sold for 1,900 of our UK pounds!

Then people try to make words by combining letters. eg 1 and 3 to make a B
hence HOT 130Y sold for £3,700 in Nov 2001.

I think it's daft - we should be able to have real words!

I think the whole scenario with what I call 'Mickey Mouse numbers' is even dafter!
Quite often they are used as company vehicles - that tells me not to buy their goods/services because they are frittering away their profit.

As for privately owned cars, they are saying 'Look at the money I have spent for no actual reason'. Why not just stick your bank statement on your windscreen?
Even the cars themselves have become a status symbol - fer gawd's sake, they are just a machine, like a toaster or washing machine!

Me, I'm off to see if I can sell the personalised serial number on my washing machine!

Which one? I would have thought U.K. had laws against that.

All three of them, Rick! Although we use the one with wheels for the longer journey, and the two-legged ones for final manoeuvring on site - the gubmint nannies or EU haven't said anything about this yet - they are busy trying to fit kids with goggles for playing conkers and such description-defying stunts.

I think it is daft to spend one cent more than I have to on plates! I would not give any amount to put anything on a car plate. I could think of much better things to spend money on than that!
It might be awkward to have a personalized license plate, not that I ever do anything wrong, mind you. But, it could prove embarrassing for some at local motels, if they happen not to be with their spouses.

Probably not a good idea to use a get-away car with a personalized plate. And, probably a better idea that the plate doesn’t have I ROB BANKS.
