Hi There

Well after reading thru a few posts to see the low down on what happens in a bid group if 2 items end at same time the conclusion was "You Can't your stuffed" LOL Smile

But I was thinking (A novelty for me), it's been said that AS needs 30 seconds to determin if you won an aution before it can tell if you won or lost, now my thoughts are if you have 2 near identical items, and are in the same bid group, lets say item A and item B for example, both end at same time, you like both but don't want to miss out now this is where my brain worked....

If you like item A just a little more than B you set the lead time to 60 seconds on item A, AS places bid, now if your instantly outbid then AS would know to go for item B instead but if A was winning AS ignors item B. I know it kinda negates the snipe aspect a bit, but if you get busy like me AS is good for remembering to bid for you if either A) I'm busy or B) in bed because its a forign auction.

AS gods would this be a correct assumption of how AS would work it, or was my rare brain spark just nothing more than a Peanut M&M sugar rush.

Many thanks,

Yes that is a risk, but if 2 items end exact same time it was the only automated way round I could think of.

I use AS not only for the nice snipe function Smile but the fact it's an automated bid system, I work long hours and I'm either at work or asleep when auctions are going to end, or I just plum forget (I'm a bit thick too LOL).

But in the instance above I wanted to know whould that work giving one item a 60 second lead time, I know that if item A's bid becomes highest bid then B will be ignored and possible snip from another could mean I miss item A thusly no wins for me but hey it's all part of the game Smile

I just woundered if my brain spark was on track?

Not very often no LOL

I know it's a rare thing but at this moment I have 2 items in a bid group that are due to end at the exact same time, now there looking cheap at the mo and I'm kinda skint thusly all the items in my bid group are snipes for a low amount, there's 15 odd in all. Now although skint really want one of them and the 2 in question are very nice examples thusly wouldn't want to miss the possible oppertunity. But if AS won't work like mentioned above then I'll have to make a difficult choice which to remove from the bid group and hope I'll be able to get near a computer near the ending time so I can manually check to see if the current bids at that time have solved the problem for me LOL.

I know it's a rare acurance but when my head gave me a possible answer to the problem I thought I'd share it Smile

Likewise with me. It would be interesting to see if it works. It was definitely an original idea.

Good luck.

Well I try to be original Smile , and I'll update here if the instance happens again Smile

I believe that the theory is that when the snipe goes in, there’s a chance that AS knows that it didn’t win without having to wait for the end of the auction. That would give the 2nd snipe more time. It’s assuming that AS would check at the time the snipe was placed, and also at the end of the auction. Some of Sara’s wording in the above links “sounds” like that’s possible.

Hopefully, like you said, someone who knows for sure will post here.
