I think the most common medicinal use (at least, the most common I've heard of) is for control of nausea in cancer patients. I have a friend who was quite dedicated to her "doobies", as well as smoking a pack a day of the legal kind, until six months ago when she was diagnosed with cancer. Cured her smoking habit like >snap< that.

The irony of it was, she refused to smoke anything, she couldn't eat it for various reasons, and didn't ever have much nausea, so "medicinal use" was out of the picture too.
