I have been experimenting with my listings and have noticed that buyers are LESS inclined to bid on an item with a BIN as well as a starting price. Why is that I wonder?

I have listed the same items, with BIN and starting price, and then just with starting prices...and they are more inclined to bid on the latter. Confused

This week I had some expensive items listed and my competition had indentical items with a BIN as well as a starting price - my items sold for over her BIN price and hers had no bids - even weirder? Considering her feedback is 100% positive even though she has less transactions than me and I have a NEG.

I've noticed that as well. Using a BIN in your auction means you're a 'pro' and many would rather deal with the small guy that just does eBay on the side because they are more honest.

If you use a BIN and pay what someone wants, are you automatically paying to much? Auctions with a starting price close to the BIN are especially avoided.

The other thing I've noticed, is if you have a widgit worth $100 and the starting bid is $1, it will often sell for more than if the starting price were $75 because the seller of the $1 start price is less greedy.

Smile Just kidding... Razz   I realize none of this makes any sense...
but that's what you get for asking a question with no good answer! Smile
