I'm fairly new at the Sniper game (less than 6 mos)
but I've discovered that for the small fee involved, sniping gives you an equal playing field against bidders with DSL. T-1,T-3, satelite ect. I'm stuck with my lousy dial up and can't get DSL because my local provider only likes to put in new hubs where the rich are! So... this is one small way to fight back, so I don't complain too much. After all, it's as fair as proxy bidding; the only difference being that you don't drive the price up by "emotional" bidding! Or, have you ever seen someone ruin an auction bidding up to find the reserve? So set up your Snipe to the price you want to pay and leave it alone. If you get "cold feet" and want out, give yourself some time to cancel!
I'm having a ball with it and i hope you do to.

I don't see how that could "ruin" an auction, particularly from a sniper's standpoint. If there's a reserve on an item it will be very useful to know how much it is, so that you can determine whether to set up a snipe on it and, if so, how much to set your snipe for. Having somebody else stick his neck out to learn what the reserve is by bidding up the item is an ideal, no-cost way for the sniper to acquire this vital information.

Happy Holidays to all snipers! Big Grin
