winning bid placed earlier

I sniped an auction and the time showed up within 4 seconds of the end of the auction. The winning bidders time/date was listed as two days earlier. The other bidder had a higher price, but wouldn't a max bid show up multiple times if they had originally bid a higher price earlier?

Don't quite see where you're coming from with that last bit. The eBay max proxy bid remains hidden with only enough being used to top the next highest bid by one increment.

It sounds like you met with a higher proxy bid, but I'm not sure what you're asking about a max bid showing up multiple times. The winning bidder's max bid isn't revealed.
