Winning , "almost"

I have used A.S. to place a bid and won. The amount I bid (on ebay) was above the reserve and way above the last amount bid. My bid recorded as one increment above the last bidder and therefore I did not win the auction as the reserve had not been met. Seems strange to me. However it has happened in the past and I have now enetered into a contract with the seller to buy. My question: Because I didn't win the auction my A.S. hasn't charged me for the snipe. Is this the way it works?

If you don't win, you don't pay.

Even if you are the high bidder and the reserve price has not been met, you are not technically the winner. So we don't charge you. (And if you ever find that you are for some strange reason, we'll gladly credit your account.)
