Hello,
I am new to sniper auction and was trying this as my FIRST sniping program ever actually. I am confused about something. The way I understand things is this (let me give an example):
Let's say a bid starts on Monday Feb 1st at 1:00pm and is over on Feb 5th at 1:00pm. The way I understand how the program works is that Auction sniper will try to place my bid (up to whatever my MAX is set at IF needed) on Feb. 5th at 12:59 (and amount of lead time in seconds here subtracted from 1:00pm). So let's say lead time was 5 seconds. Then the bid would be placed at 12:59:55pm correct?
Is this is true then I had an auction at where AcutionSniper bid on 04-Feb-05 08:29:44 GMT and it was actually over at 04-Feb-05 09:47:30 GMT. Why in the heck would it do that? I was VERY lucky in that no one else posted after me and I won, BUT why in the world would it do it like almost an 1hr and 20 minutes EARLY? Please help! Thanks!
Zaphod

Could this be the answer?

From AS FAQ's:
42. How can I snipe when you go down for maintenance? When do you go down for maintenance?

Our maintenance is the same as eBay: 1 to 3 a.m. on Friday mornings. Your snipe wouldn't have gone through anyway. You can’t bid when eBay is down.

The 1 to 3 a.m. is PST (ebay U.S. time).
Hi Zaphod.

You really are lucky getting the bid placed at all. Have a look at the number of complaints under various headings about snipes not being lodged at all in the last few days.

The alarming thing is that AS doesn't seem to be worrying much. I received a standard letter type of reply only minutes after my complaint or request for support had been lodged. It did not even get the facts right.

Gizzie - I think you've slightly missed the point - there was a problem recently when ebay changed the way that bids were confirmed that caused problems with snipes while AS 'fixed' it. This resulted in some bids not getting placed and has now been fully documented in this forum.
Zaphod's problem is to do with bidding on Auctions during AS's maintenance time so the bid was bound to happen - it just happened early.
On the latter, it would be nice if AS 'spotted' this at the time of snipe placement and warned the punter...

Sorry about that. Wrong button. What I am saying is that there have been at least 3 complaints logged on these forums over incidents that have happened in the past six hours. In my case, my bid was pitched for 11 seconds. The winning bid was a snipe 5 seconds before the auction ended and it was a far lower bid than my maximum. How does AS explain that some later bids can be registered and earlier ones ignored.

Gizzie.
