I thnk because the .02 over the proxy bid of 65.00, which won was not enough to bid over this person.

Winning bid $65. To reach ebay's bid increment, you needed $66 just to get on the boards.

Remember also that you don't know how high the winner's bid actually was. All that eBay shows you is the amount needed to win.

It might be another reason for longer lead times so as to "block" other snipers by using the "Power of the Bid Increment".

"1 lead" - I assume that means lead time?

I think the "1" refers to "quantity," just above it. The lead was 5, I think.

Well, bottom line is, you got to bid enough to outbid to win!

I have had several wins in the past that have sucked every last cent out of my maximum bid because it was below the next increment, but I won anyway so I'm not complaining. (I won one 100 dollar item by something like 37 cents) Maybe it did not work in this case because it was dutch??

Big Steve, yes, it is possible to win 1.00 items by .37 because we are talking about much smaller bid increments.

I'm saying that I won a -*$100.00*- item by $0.37 irrespective of the bid increments.

I've had several of this type of win where my winning bid was below the increment.

This gets a little complicated. If you can provide the auction # it would help in explaining. Or, if you post the bid history (last 4 bids will do), with fake user id's, bid amounts and bid times, that would also work.

P.S. Probably best not to get into big Steve's initials.

Rick, if big Steve's bid was placed prior to the one that drove him to his max minus 37 cents, that would explain things. The increment below $100.00 is one dollar, and he didn't say his bid was a snipe, either.

That's what it's been in the past. It seems that without the bid history it's hard to explain it (even with bid history it's hard to explain - maybe HAVING the bid history makes it hard to explain). If big Steve gets it, no need to get bid history.
