Why am I getting the wrong image in Searches/My Snipes?

Because that would require downloading every image in the auction, just to check the size. There could be as many as 20 images with all the images they use as clipart, paypal, border images, etc.

Basically it would be too time consuming and costly and likely only marginarlly more accurate. For instance the largest image may be the picture of the bottom of a vase, and not the primary picture of the vase. etc.

A good idea though.

Just out of interest, what is the algorithm the programmers use to decide which photo to use? Is it just the last one on the page?

It's a combination of things based on which software or listing service they use to list their auctions, or if they list them on eBay directly. Then there are large amounts of blocked images that keep us from getting things like paypal logos, then there are positional things in the description.

My guess is that we hit about 75-80% of the images correctly. Then maybe another 5-10% get another image that is still of the item, and then maybe 10% that are just plain wrong.

So, could you not look at the largest one of the remaining images after excluding known logos etc and just display that one? Maybe using the width and height in the tag (if present!) to find the biggest? That might increase 'accuracy' a point or two...
