Which folders get bid?

ok, spent time searching thru 'folders' faq, and can't find the answer. (not reeaal patient, am I)
question is:
I have some snipes which have become less important, created a 'hold' folder and moved these to it until I decide whether to really snipe or not.
My 'asssumption' has been that in order for AS to place your bid, it has to be in 'my snipes' or a 'bid' group folder. Yes? No? TIA...
I also have a 'won' and 'lost' folder; which do not get bid since they're expired. the items in 'hold' are!
