I just lost an auction that I had placed a snipe one hour and thirty min. on. The auction ended way below my snipe bid(actually only one person bid on the item) and I recieved no e-mail on the status of the snipe. My snipe pages has nothing on it but the the calender page shows it.

What happened and is the any kind of restitution for this because I definatly would have won the auction(I bid almost the retail price plus shipping).

I haven't had the time to shop eBay in weeks! Finally found an hour free today and came up with a couple of very nice items which I really wanted. Placed my snipes an hour and a half before auction close and bid HIGH as I really wanted both items. Result? No snipes, no new bids at all, and I could have had them for almost nothing. No e-mails from AS either. This has never happened to me before and it really shakes my confidence with Auction Sniper. Anybody know what happened?
One of my snipes wasn't placed either (it was an auction ending on an odd time, not a one of xx:00, xx:15, xx:30 or xx:45, so it should have been placed (5 sec lead), and it was probably also "NOT IN TIME", but I haven't received any email informing me of that ... this is the second time I've tried this... I'll just have to monitor the auctions myself for auctions, that I want to be sure to win, or place snipes at several sniper sites on one auction...

When one thinks, that it is stated that (not a direct quoteSmile "there are several auctionsniper servers with a direct backbone to ebays servers, to ensurew that a bid will be placed", I'm wondering how something like this on the 21st happened... where several have missed their snipes...

Just a thought... may not be the answer. But Sunday evenings are an especially busy time on eBay. Lots of people adding listings, lots of listings closing and lots of people browsing and bidding. I have been online since early evening to late morning adding listings and watching auctions, etc. and eBay has been running very slow. For a while there I was getting lots of errors while browsing because it was choking.

It may be that there just was not enough lead time on your snipes to get them there in time. Since I don't know what your lead times were and exactly when you snipes were supposed to run, I'm just guessing... but it's something to look into.

Hope that helps.

Dear me, this is the first spate of Monday Morning Missed Snipes Blues we've had for awhile! As a general thing, snipes set for Sunday afternoon and particularly Sunday evening should have a lead time of at least 20 seconds. (Sara B. from Auction Sniper Support recommends up to 30 seconds and says that even that much lead is sometimes not enough.) This is irrespective of whether the auction ends on the even hour, half-hour, or quarter-hour...it applies to any snipe on Sunday afternoon or evening. Missing a snipe because of insufficient lead time is not justification for compensation from AS, since a search of the Forum archives would have revealed a ton of warnings and information about this.

In answer to Dsallilas' question, compensation in the form of free snipes is available for missed snipes when the miss is the fault of AS. If, after clicking on "search" above and searching for "Sunday bids" (without the quotes) any of you are convinced that the usual Sunday logjam at eBay is definitely not the cause of your missed snipes, go to http://www.auctionsniper.com/freeSnipes.aspx and file for compensation.
