When do you recomend placing the AS bid? Do you do it days in advance of hours or minutes?
Of course I'm so new I don't know how to enter in a bid amount and where.

Use the HELP button at the top and follow the Tips there-on! You place your snipe whenever - AS bids for you in the closing seconds...

You place your snipe bid now, for the maximum price you are willing to pay. Then AS will place your bid for you. This helps prevent a lot of bidding wars. They still can happen when some other people keep nibbling up the price. But over all, this is the best way to bid. Also, use help and read up on bid groups. They are the best thing since the bread got sliced before you buy it.
