Hi!

I have a question about what is considered a snipe. There are two auctions ending tomorrow on which I have already placed bids. I am currently the high bidder on bothof them. I also have snipes ready, which, of course, are significantly higher than the bids showing on ebay.

If I understand your procedures, five seconds before the auctions ends, you will send my snipes, even if I'm still the high bidder.

What happens if it turns out that there is no other sniper lurking out there, and I win with the bids I placed myself? Are the two superfluous snipes counted, or am I given a pass since I won with my own bids rather than the ones AuctionSniper placed for me?

Thanks to anyone who can clarify the situation for me!

As I understand it, AS will automatically try to place your bids with whatever lead time you have set,as always. If you are already highest bidder (and at a full bid increment above the second highest bidder, as per ebay guidelines), your winning bid amount will not increase.

If, perchance, your regular bids are highest, but not by a full bid increment, ebay will take only as much of your AS snipe bid as is needed to reach an increment level.

If you win, whether by previous bid or AS snipe, AS will charge you for the snipes, as per their guidelines. Small price for a win, in any case.

If you lose, you lose, but at least no fee for the snipes, then. And more of your desired items will come along sooner or later. (You could try setting up a search and a bid group.)

Hope you win - unless, of course, you're bidding against me! Big Grin

P.S. - My dogs are named Casey, Snickers, and Douglas.
Thanks so much for explaining this to me--I'm still pretty new and don't know all the rules. I certainly don't mind paying for snipes--the prices are SOOOOOOOOOO reasonable! I won one of the two auctions I had snipes on, I'm certain I wouldn't have been able to win the one I did without AuctionSniper. I feel OK about losing the other auction--I loved the item but bid as much as I possibly could, and was beat by someone with more $$$$. Fair enough for me!

PS My dog's name is Emmylou--she's the world's most expensive mutt--she's pulled both her back ACL tendons and now has steel knees! But she's worth every penny, and my husband agreed we just couldn't put her down, which was our only other alternative. Now she's been to the vet to the pets of the stars in Sun Valley, Idaho!
