You will only be charged for winning snipes. Since you have 3 free snipes, the snipe tonight, if you win, will be free (bad news for AS). Big Grin

"Perhaps I could call you to discuss this in more detail." - Thank you for the complement, but I spend all my time on this forum and never answer calls.

If this wasn't a free snipe, it would only cost you $5.

Eric,

"Are you an authoritative source, i.e. an agent, owner or employee for AuctionSniper.com?" - None of the above. Just someone with too much time on their hands, and someone that wants AS to continue their success.

"or are you just an individual who likes helping out other folks?" - I like that reason for my obsession.

"In other words, can I truly rely on the charge to be only $5?" - It won't cost you anything. It's a free snipe. And those are AS' fee schedule.

Eric,

I know I said I'd see you in the AM, but I'm afraid that my post about your auction being canceled may have caused you some concern. I don't work for AS. I don't have access into their data base. If my statement about the auction being cancelled is correct, I'll be very happy to share with you how I came to that conclusion. If I was wrong, then that won't be the first time I put my foot in my mouth.

I think I stepped over the line, again, because of your "NO !"

Eric,

Sorry to be an ass.

Well, I thought that something going for that amount would be in "Automotive-ebay Motors". So I did a search on anything with a price of $28,000. I got a hit that was closing in a few hours.

It was like a cross-word puzzle. If I was right, I was right. If I was wrong, I was wrong. Nothing covert.

BUT, on the other hand - if I was correct, you should be careful how much information you provide to strangers. There maybe strangers that are stranger then me.

Wow, I should have resisted the temptation to pry. I'm afraid to think what you would do if I gave you my phone number - and what ever you did, I would deserve it.

I don't know if I was correct. If I was, I only used information that anyone on this forum could have use. If I was incorrect, which I hope I am, then I was incorrect.

It was just a lucky/clever guess. Bring up ebay's search. You told me the price. You told me it was ending in a few hours. The motor section was luck, nothing more. I made a guess, and with price and time, I got a hit. Anyone could have guessed, if they tried.

I'm not your enemy. If your auction had gone thru, I would have said congrats.

Since you're new to this, consider this a harmless insight into what can happen. YOU supplied the information. Next time think about what you're doing.

Are you pissed at me?

You're pissed. I can tell, and I understand.

But if you're not pissed: sellers cancel auctions. Maybe they get another offer. Maybe they didn't like the price. I have no idea why this seller cancel the auction. I sure hope you don't think I had anything to do with it.

And this is strange; when I first looked at the auction it was at $28,000, but now it's at 27,999? Confused

Sellers sometime cancel auctions to sell the item off eBay. Perhaps someone emailed the seller an offer they couldnt refuse.

Sometimes they cancel the because it's getting close to the end of the auction and they are afraid their item will end to cheaply. Rather than sell the item for a price they arent happy with they cancel it.
