What would happen if......

Once in the past the AS server must have been down, and I lost out on an item I really wanted. Oh well, life goes on. Smile

Anyhow, I really want the latest item I am sniping. And I was just wondering...after creating a new a snipe, if I place a bid on my own for the item, let's say about a minute before the auction ends, will AS still place a higher bid even if nobody else bids?

(I'm set for 8 seconds lead time and don't want to bid against myself. Razz

If you won, it would be no different than if you had bid twice on eBay yourself. Generally speaking, one cannot bid against oneself. If you are already the high bidder, the amount of your bid does not increase. AS does, however, collect its fee, even if their snipe was not what put you over the top. But that is only a small pittance. Wink

I think I'm going to place my own bid during the last minute of the auction, and then AS will also place my bid 8 secs before the end.

Currently there are no bids, and the auction ends in less than 2 days. I wouldn't be surprised if another bidder is sniping too. I'm not worried about the AS fee, I just want the peace of mind making sure something doesn't go wrong. I just have bad luck sometimes.
