Hello Everyone!! I know that I read this here when I was reading to educate myself but I'll be darned if I can find it now. I have 4 snipes set up to go in about an hour. There have been no bids. Let me back up a bit and tell you what happen last week. I had a snipe set up for something I really wanted, never on eBay before, seemed I was the only one who knew it was there. The day before the end, Seller ended early, she told me "no one bid and my sister asked if she could have it so I ended auction! ACK! Because of that experience I panicked on these 4 coming up(don't come around very often) and bid minimum last night. So, what happens to my snipes? I don't want to let snipes go incase someone is lerking. Will I end up bidding against myself? Will it be just one increment? I could handle that for the peace of mind. Thanks to all. Helen

Hi Rick,
Well, I read that but I don't think it answers my question. See, I want to keep my snipes on these items. I only bid the opening bid, minimum. I want to keep my snipes in case others come in at last minute with higher bids. My snipe bid is considerably higher than the opening, minimum bid I placed. If AS see's me as another bidder, that's ok with me. I think I understand now (it's like tallking out loud! lol). So AS will see me as another bidder and bid 1 increment above my bid? I will never do this again, way too confusing. Roll Eyes

No. If you are already high bidder (by a full increment) AS will place another bid for you (assuming your snipe is higher than your proxy bid), for your full snipe amount. It would be the same as your placing a second proxy bid when you are the high bidder. It will only increase your proxy bid.

And, too costly if it starts a bidding war.
Hi! Yah! I WON! Smile Sorry didn't get back here sooner. I'm disabled and occassionaly have these darn flare-ups, never know when their going to hit me or for how long. I lost so many auctions, waiting until the last minute of course, because I was out of it. I LOVE AS. Now I never lose an auction (unless I bid too low of course), it's there for me when I'm not there! It's so fun to hear that "YESSS" when I'm up and around again.

Back to auctions. Sure enough there was another bidder(same bidder on all 3) on 3 of 4 auctions. Here's what happen. All auctions ended at 17:00:00. My Max was $19.33 on all 3. (my earlier bid was $1.99)
This is how it was listed.
1st) AS bid at 16:59:32 - $18.50
2nd Bidder at 16:59:36 - $15.00
2nd Bidder at 16:59:55 - $18.00

2nd) AS bid at 16:59:29 - $15.50
2nd Bidder at 16:59:38 - $15.00

3rd) AS bid at 16:59:35 - $15.50
2nd Bidder at 16:59:41 - $15.00

You can see that 2nd bidder started at 1, went to 2 and 3, back to 1, then ran out of time.
Here's what puzzles me, though I'm completely happy with the outcomes Smile, how did AS know to place my bids to the much higher bids before the 2nd bidder had bid? In each case my bids were placed before the 2nd bidder, up to $15.50 (my 1st bid being $1.99) Does AS make changes to the bids but we don't see it? I'm so use to the manual way of bidding that maybe that's what I'm looking for.

Well, that the end of my lonnng story. Sorry. That's for your help.

Best wishes, Helen Smile
AS sends whatever bid, in its entirety, you tell it to place. Beyond that, it is eBay that decides how much of your bid is needed to make you the high bidder. This is the same handling as if you had bid directly on eBay yourself. If you bid $100 and the second place bidder bid $45, then you win the auction at $46.

Welcome!
