I'm new and in reading the community boards I'm reading some slang which I don't understand. I was wondering what a nuclear bid was. Is there a place where there are definitions for the slang used on the boards?
[QUOTE]Originally posted by Bartelby: Hi there, A nuclear bid/snipe is where you place a ridiculously high bid to ensure you win no matter what.
Like an item worth $80 tops, you bid/snipe $200 to make sure you get it.
Aha! I did that and didn't realize it was a "nuclear" bid. The item was worth $5 and I bid $35 which was a ridiculous bid for the item, but I wanted it for a gift and got it for $5.50! So I was nuclear bidding with out knowing it.
Thanks. This is a really helpful place for newbies.
