Jeff, AS doesn't work that way. The amount you set as your bid is the amount AS bids on your behalf -- *all* of it, on the first bid, with 5 seconds left in the auction if that's what you programmed your bid for. If your bid's high enough to overcome others' proxy bids, you win. If not, you don't. This is why it's always a good idea to put your maximum amount down. If you still lose, at least you can take comfort that some guy had to spend more than you were willing to spend to get the widget you both were bidding on.

Steve is correct. We place your bid with 5 seconds left. Since all bids on eBay are proxy bids we bid $26.00 and the rest is handled by eBay.

So in this case you would win for $20.50

You'd never pay more using AuctionSniper than you would by placing your bid on eBay, and quite often you pay less since other bidders dont know you're going to bid and they dont bid their highest, and they dont get another chance to raise their bid since the auction would already be over.

Exactly. This is why AS is such a no-brainer to use!! So glad I discovered it ... by being outsniped! ... but never again! (P.S. Just kidding. I know it can happen.)

If I place a bid for 185 $ will AS bid this and only this. Or will they bid the next highest increment when it is time to snipe?

AS will submit one bid, and one bid only, for every snipe you program. That bid will be in the full amount -- in your example $185 -- and not in increments. The bid will be placed whenever you tell AS to place it.

So ebay will see it as a regular bid.
If I use AS for 185 $ and the high bid as auction is ending is $165, ebay will call me the winner at whatever the next increment is. Correct?

Correct. I should have mentioned that it's eBay that does the incrementing. If $165 was enough, that amount of your $185 bid would show on the bidding history, not the full amount.
