Hope someone can help here...
I get continually puzzled by this - it is happening every other day and I have lost an enormous amount of critical bids because of it.

I get the following alert at the top of MY SNIPES screen.

----------------------------
AuctionSniper Notification!
We were unable to verify your eBay username and/or password.
Please check your account preferences to make sure they are correct.
----------------------------

I then do everything I can think of. Put in my ebay name & password, re log-in to Auction Sniper, reboot, dance, have endless cups of coffee, etc etc. What is so puzzling is that the message can go away for several days - and then come back. Like today - it's back. This is a bummer on a Sunday, because it's a day where I go out in the evening and every Sunday evening there's valuable items I want to snipe. Last Sunday was agonizing - that was a problem day.

What is going on here? Very confusing.

Thanks Sniperz!

thanks for your answer

No, I don't think so... I bid for an awful lot of items, across dozens of categories, both in the UK and USA. There's never a problem when I bid from eBay.

Although, I also have periods when I have to continually put in security digits into eBay when I log in. Then long periods when I never have to.

It's very confusing.

One thing I noticed today is that I clicked VERIFY at the foot of AS and it told me to log out of eBay, manually log in again and enter the 4 security digits. I did this 7 times. Could always get into eBay, but nothing, nothing, nothing, ever makes AS work properly again.

It would feel less puzzling if I only knew what the "secret" thing was that made AS work properly again, which, as I say, it periodically does, without me doing anything in particular.

(Except spending ages doing everything manually in eBay. Perhaps AS senses this, gets jealous, wants its commission again and hey ho starts working again!!!)
You're wearing green shoes, aren't you! Everyone knows that the color green, when eminating from below a computer, can cause serious and sporadic problems. Certain wavelenghts of light will pass right through desks and chairs and make a beeline straight for your cpu. Green is the most notorious for this. This is one reason that army fatigues are green in color!

I would suggest that you change your attire, and perhaps, your dancing style. Have you tried a nice mambo or a few swing steps? Also, having your computer play the mp3 music as you dance would make it feel wanted - and possibly a tad more cooperative in other endeavors.

I find my computer particularly fond of >> This <<
I'm new to AS. The same happended to me a few hours ago, making me losing 5 consecutive auctions from the same seller. The problem is not coming from the seller, since AS was able to connect one hour before on his auctions. Very upsetting. Before, I used eSnipe and NEVER had this problem...
Don't know much about dancing, and coffee doesn't help. Since I am french, leaving in France, I've no other solution than waking up in the middle of the night to place my bids by myself, or... going back to eSnipe ?
I'm a newbie & I'm pretty nervous about the auction I desperately need to win within 24 hrs. Never bid on Ebay before (registered there yesterday), never tried SA.

When I registered for SA, I was asked to fill in a form, the webpage offering me to do that automatically ('are u getting tired too, filling out all these forms?' or something). I reckon the job is done by checking my ebay-registered data, for as soon as I pushed the button, I got the same notice. I had to give my ebay-password over and over again, and the reply remained the same: we cannot verify your blabla..
I doublechecked my password+username with ebay and had no problem logging in there.

Of course I could fill out the SA-form manually and I did. But it worries me al lot, that somehow the SA-program doesn't seem to have/give the correct data in corresponding with ebay. (Sounds like it is EXACTLY what the other folks where confronted with, in different situations - which confirms that the problem has nothing to do with a certain seller or the bidding whatsoever, for i was only registering and had not placed any snipes yet)

This evening my auction ends, and now I'm not sure whether SA will be able (in those last seconds) to establish contact with Ebay on my behalf.

I still have hours left, so
HOW CAN I CHECK whether it will work?

Thanks a lot for any serious answer.

Wow! Under these circumstances I'd recommend bidding manually. That way, if you happen to NOT win this item that you so "desperately need to win", you'll have fewer things to blame.

On My Snipes page, in the bottom right corner, there’s a verification link to check that AS has your correct ebay ID and password.

Another suggestion, which is what I did when I first started using AS – use one or more of your free snipes to bid on something fairly inexpensive and something that would be “nice” to win, but not a “must have”. I know time is a factor, but that might relieve some concern.

Sniping is a compromise between safety and price. For safety, there’s nothing like having a proxy bid placed in advance. The bid is placed, and it’s not going anywhere. On the other hand, with a proxy bid, you are asking for someone to outbid you, which means the price is going to go up.

If winning the auction, at any cost, is the most important thing, a proxy bid is your bet. If price is more important, than sniping is your better bet.

AS places many, many snipes (thousands, but “they” don’t give us exact numbers) daily. If there were any major problems, this forum would be riddled with complaints. That’s not to say that AS is perfect, as nothing created by humans is perfect, but it’s pretty close to perfection.

Hope this comes in time to be helpful, and if it does, hope the content is helpful.
