Didn't even know it existed, but I might have a use for it shortly, depending on whether a snipe comes off.

Not sure I see how eBay makes money off it - presumably charges the seller a fee?

I'm sure ebay will not let you make contact without some sort of fee. I'm hoping that this is because of the other sites that have this feature, and ebay is starting to feel some competition. I'm waiting for them to lower some of the fees. (but not holding my breath ) My personal gripe is the 25cents for gallery. Come on!! Or the extra for buy-it-now etc. I'm surprised they don't charge us for time spent looking!!

Looks like “Evil Empire” ebay has it set up as a regular auction. Seller gives the Want-it-now (win?) buyer the auction number.
