I can log into auctionsniper but when I try to enter a snipe the site just hangs, and eventually fails (Mac X, Safari, Firefox latest). Same with contacting support, which demonstrates the weakness of web-only support. My ISP is Free in France but auctionsniper is the only site with which I have problems. -- AB

Hi bibliopola,

Thanks for letting us know about this. It definitely sounds like there is a connection problem between your ISP and our systems over here in the US. Please run a trace route to AuctionSniper.com and post the results in a reply to this thread. You can run a trace route from Mac OS by doing the following:

1) Go to Applications -> Utilities -> Network Utility
2) Click the “Trace Route” tab
3) Enter www.auctionsniper.com and click “Trace”

The results of the trace route should demonstrate where the connection is failing. It would also be a good idea to contact your ISP and see if they can diagnose why you (and they) cannot connect to our site.

I'm not sure that there is a routing problem since I can reach http://www.auctionsniper.com but not http://www.auctionsniper.com/MySnipes.aspx

Hi bibliopola,

Thanks for posting the results of your trace route here. Based on the results of your trace route command, it appears that the connection is failing after the 10gigabitethernet -12.core1.fmt2.he.net hop, which I suspect is located in Fremont, California based on the suffix that is used.

ASPX is an acronym that stands for "Active Server Page Extended", which is a server generated web page based on Active X scripting that uses the Microsoft ASP.NET framework. I'm inclined to believe this is a routing problem as opposed to a problem with the web page.

If you email us at support@auctionsniper.com, I will have someone from our customer support department continue assisting you with this matter via email.

Hi !

No problem with AS last year and this year until the last 3 month. From that moment I encounter a very similar problem (in France to) with the "Alice.fr" ISP.

If I use the same computer with another ISP ("Orange.fr") I can connect.

So I' have done some test with Traceroute that say : "traceroute: unknown host http://www.auctionsniper.com/mysnipes.aspx" (no problem with http://www.auctionsniper.com).

Very strange isn't it ?

My ISP (Alice.fr) says that this problem is not in conection with them, I'm not so sure …

Any idea about that ?
Hello rifiuti,

After seeing your post I contacted our Internet Technology Manager. It seems that the trace you are attempting will only work on the domain and not the pages. This is what he said:

quote:
Based on the command you are using (traceroute) I'm thinking you are using a Mac computer. I'm not very familar with the Mac version of traceroute but I'm fairly confident that it works the same as it's Windows counterpart "tracert". With the tracert command you can only supply a fully qualified domain name (like www.auctionsniper.com). Using a URL from a website does not work and can't be resolved which is why you see it saying "unknown host" the correct command would be "traceroute www.auctionsniper.com".

Hopefully this helps answer your question. Of course if you're experiencing any difficulty with the site or services you should contact Customer Support in order to get the quickest answers to your questions.

Thanks for using Auction Sniper, and Happy Sniping!
