I was unable to adjust my bid about two minutes from the end of a recent auction and when my snipe bid was below the current bid, I sniped the item manually and won. I got a "Congratulations You Won" from Auction Sniper. Will I get a charge from Auction Sniper for winning this item even though I had to snipe it myself to win?

From Faq:

When can I modify snipes that I’ve entered?

You cannot add, modify, or cancel a snipe if there is less than 5 minutes left until the auction ends. When the auction is about to end, you may notice that a lock will replace the Cancel and Modify links. In the event that you have not refreshed the page, and the Cancel and Modify links still exist for a snipe that is ending in less than 5 minutes, any changes made will not adhere. For reliability and performance, our bidding system prepares your snipes in advance, so you must make your changes before this time.
And any snipe that is placed sucessfully is charged to you.

It is always good to go to Help and read the Faq so that you are acquainted with how things work.
I don't think that I shouold be charged for a snipe that I had to place because I could not modify the bid wihtin the 5 minute window and the maximum bid that I had entered with AS was less than the current bid. So, I would have lost if I had not hapened to be at the computer when the auction was ending to make my manual snipe to win the item. So, I am asking if I am going to be charged even though I would not have won with AuctionSniper in this case???
quote:
But is he/she going to be charged based on the lower value of the snipe listed in AS or on the higher value of the winning bid ?
Always the winning amount. If it was the snipe amount, then often times that amount is greater than the closing price.

AS figures that it placed a snipe, or tried to, so since their resources were used, the user gets charged if they win the auction. This avoids using AS as a backup site. Since the snipe was cancelled after the allowable time, which is documented, and since the snipe was placed (it was placed, but rejected by ebay), and since the user won, the user will be charge the auction-ending price.
