Serenity - we don't have cole slaw at the Outback's up here ... each region has slightly different items. I still enjoy KFC's slaw - it's got so much sugar it's like eating candy!

Dave - the bloom sauce isn't all that hard to make ... I'm sure if you google for it you'll find something that comes reasonably close to the actual recipe (which I can't give out - I signed the non-disclosure agreement). I prefer the remoulade (served with the 'grilled shrimp on the barbie' and the fish), but it's a pain to make.
R2, we have and I still haven't gone to eat there.(Outback) I will one of these days.

Speaking of KFC, years ago, a man (the now well known Col Saunders) stopped at a friend of mine's little cafe, driving an old Caddie. He tried to sell my friend, for fifty dollars, a huge pressure cooker and the franchise for KFC in all of Indiana. My friend turned him down!

Aren't you in the UK? If so ...

Outback's UK locations

Hmmm... they say UK, but really mean south-east England and a single location in the Midlands.
Some of us would have to travel 400 miles by car, others in Ulster would need to fly or go by boat!
I tend to avoid places whose names have things like 'Steakhouse' - there is a dreadful chain of pubs called so.

I was offline yesterday due to a thunderstorm, so the delayed answer/comment. A friend told me of a website that has a lot of these "secret" receipes, but he never bookmarked it; maybe one day when I have nothing to do (like when I am at work Big Grin ) I will make an attempt to locate it.

Sounds like where I live, Mike. It can be a 400 mile trip through mountains or worse, waiting in line for the boats to take you across to or from the outerbanks.

Is that worth it for a steak? Big Grin
I don't actually like that far, Shirl - we are within a few miles of our city - Leeds - and near the motorway system and airport, despite the fact we have green fields around us. Those of us in Northern Scotland can be 700 miles from parts of England, and Northern Ireland (still UK) is part of another island.
Serenity -

That recipe comes close, although I don't know if I'd put oregano in anything Smile

And their instructions on how to create the 'bloomin onion' will leave you with a big mess of onion pieces. DON'T cut the bottom off the onion, just trim the roots. You need that root area to hold the thing together! Once cooked, you 'core' it, which removes the root-end.

Other than Outback I usually avoid the chains too ... I've never been to Olive Garden; Once to Red Lobster; never to Chili's ... I prefer the single-owner establishments. Especially the ethnic restaurants that'll serve me the same thing that the table next to me is eating (and isn't on the menu).
Lex - Most US stores don't have a specific 'reef & beef' combo on the menu, but you can add lobster (or crab, depending on what region of the US you're in) to any of the dinners Smile

Serenity - There's always 'curbside take away'! You can call your order in and pick it up in 20 minutes Smile Like all take-out, double check your order before you drive away! Remember, Outback pork chops are quite tasty! Get them with the steamed veggies.
