time is off | Auction Sniper

I recently lost a bid b/c my AS bid was too low...no problem, that's my problem. However, the auction had ended on Ebay & the winner awarded the item...and guess what, on AS, the auction still showed open with the time ticking away...it was about 2 1/2 minutes off from the Ebay time...could someone please explain...the time on my computer & the Ebay time were exactly the same...so why was the AS time off?

thanx for the info....still is perplexing as it gives you the impression that the bid may be going in based on the little "ticker"...very confusing!!!
