The item you lost yesterday was ended early by the seller and was not our fault.

The item you lost today ended exactly on the hour and eBay was just horrendously slow today exactly on the hour because they allow sellers to schedule items. Thus many items end exactly on the hour and clog things up. So again, not our our. We recommend 15 second lead times on such items, and 30 seconds on such items between 5pm and 9pm that end on any quarter hour.
1/25/2004 12:59:45 PM Snipe (xxxxxxxx) was placed at 1/25/2004 12:59:30 PM.

That's the exact snipe log entry from one snipe server. Perfectly placed 30 seconds before the end of auction.

These snipe robots dont mess up, they do all our sniping. Why would they work 99% of the time then only get fritz at odd times here and there randomly, etc. They wouldnt. Only when eBay is hosed. I really hate eBay today. Not sure why but they had the worst response times yet for such hour and half hour snipes all day.
I have used ebay for about three years. I have sat at a computer and manually sniped. It always works if I am available to do it and want the item badly enough to take the time. ebay works and your bs let me down. If the item in question was a common item I would learn my lesson but not be angry about it. You let me down on an item that is extremely hard to find.

Also, I sent a polite message yesterday and did not get an answer, othr than the auto reply promising me an answer.
Well, perhaps, but are not you aware that this forum is run completely independent of where you sent your message? We have nothing to do with that. We are snipers like you. Sara comes in to answer questions when she can. Any of us will try to help, but when someone comes in huffing and puffing, I guess it sort of turns us off.

If the seller ended the auction early, how is that AS's fault? If you had logged in five minutes before the end to snipe manually, you STILL would have missed it. Then who would you have blamed?

How is AS supposed to know if a seller is going to end early? If you can give me a reasonable answer to that question, then I'll admit you have a reasonable gripe...
I sent a message via the 'Contact Us' button, and did not get an answer. Sara seems to be an employee. Maybe everybody on this thread who isn't angry is an employee. I had a couple of successes with Auction Sniper and I am glad I didn't get in a hurry to recommend it to my friends.

I will spread the word on another bulletin board I frequent where many of the members use ebay.
I am realistic. AS does their best, and they have a great record. They can't be held responsible if a seller ends early, or if ebay's servers are so slow that bids don't make it in on time. They do what they can to compensate -- they even place snipes EARLY when they know the system is running slow. How can they exactly know how much time will be required?
