I don't know why AS support won't admit to their problems and post a proactive advistory. The fact is, AS is unreliable. I've now had at least 4 cases where AS used the wrong auction information and some were lost because no bid was placed. When I report these problems, I receive a reponse like:

"Hi,

We apologize for your inconvenience, but we are experiencing some difficulties with the program, due to which the snipes are not showing correct information and are not working properly.

However it‘s being worked on and will soon be fixed.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this caused you."

This problem has existed for at least 2 weeks. That's a long time. Noone from support has attempted any followup to research my reports. It almost seems like they're hoping the problem will just go away by itself.

Snipers beware. You've been warned.

Hi CG & nmpu are you still having these problems?

I have not placed a bid in the last two weeks so therefore cannot comment re this time frame.

However, I am bidding today and all appears well. I use snipe it now direct from ebay page, when I go to AS and my snipes they are loaded correctly with right item number and $$

Perhaps the problem has been solved Wink
I have had two poor experiences recently. On one occasion, my bid was lodged about 30 minutes before the auction closed. In retrospect, I would not have won that auction because of a higher snipe but my opponent's snipe was lodged at the correct time. At the moment, I am angry at having unnecessarily lost an auction. My bid was placed 29 seconds before the auction closed, not the 11 seconds it should have been. This gave another bidder (who was not using a sniping system) to lodge another bid. It seems the responses coming out of auctionsniper are the same as those I experienced some time agho when there were problems so it remains to be seen whether I will get a more helpful response this time.
I did not intend to start this thread as a general gripe session. There are some things that AS does that are less than ideal, but at least they are documented. There are situations where the snipe will be placed early. There are maintenance times and I believe the snipe time is adaptive in that they try to compensate for busy periods. I know these things from experience. I suppose it would be helpful if they were properly documented.

My reports concern a case where AS is hopelessly lost with no hope of a win.
Yea It just screwed me over too. Set to snipe on a truck starter, got mail saying a bid on a set of bike forks.. same item number. Go to ebay is no such thing. Then right after that got mail saying I had lost the truck starter because I bid to late. The item was WAY below my set value.

Good thing I just lost the auction, what would happen if I was bidding on something expensive, then won something totally different.

My confidence in this system is trashed, I am outa here.
There does seem a degree of confusion:

Most posters agree that there is a problem with AS at the moment reporting on non relevant auctions.

"Most" posters is still a handful compared to those using AS. AS says it is only affecting a minority, but we dont't know if that is the truth or not. Certainly my experience - averaging about ten bids a week (too small a sample?) is that there is no current problem

Of those complainants posting, a number seem to have real problems. Could AS try and tell us what we have to look for and what we should do. Perhaps we can help them fault find - after all it is in our interest to do so.

Paul
I never come to the AS site, other than to the forums, so just use the "Snipe it now" on my toolbar to directly access the auction.

May just be that this is fully operational and those of us who use this have no problems.

Any experiences to the contrary?

If it does work, then I suggest you just leave them to sort the import function out and use this method.

If it doesn't and the problem exists with "Snipe it now" and I've just been lucky, has anybody else got any suggestions?

Paul
Camera,

From watching this problem(s) as purely an outside observer, it doesn’t appear that the issue is how one tells AS about the snipe, but that after the snipe is recorded with AS, there’s some AS process (perhaps the periodic checking of current prices to determine “Bid Too Low” status) that pulls the auction’s description and price from some other snipe and updates that info into the wrong snipe. This is only speculation.

The problem has been mentioned by you, Shop, and letitflyantiques. The first mention on this forum was from Shop on January 17:
https://community.auctionsniper.com/eve/forums/a/tpc...5608021/m/5021093941
In that thread, Camera, on January 18 you mentioned that you had the same problem the prior week. That would put the start of this somewhere between January 8 and January 14, and perhaps even earlier.

Sorry, Paul, no suggestions here. Just speculating on the cause and starting date of this bug.

nmpu, hope this doesn't sound like I'm griping.
I congratulate auctionsniper for the prompt way they have handled the complaint I referred to above. However, their response makes it clear that they cannot offer the quality of service which they boast about on their home page. Their claim to be able to handle bids to the precise second is obviously incorrect. Their system has let me down only twice but I am never going to be sure when it will happen again. A great incentive to get up at three o'clock in the morning to lodge my own bid!!
