Agreed! AS is more or less exactly the way I want it to be and has performed well so far.
(Although I would like an answer to my question on this thread; hopefully it's not a major issue!)

I use 3 secs and it works fine for me.

Read a discussion about auctions a couple of months ago - usual thing about snipers being cheaters, immoral and such. I got so fed up with the penniless morons who wanted everything for free that I signed up on AS. Right after that I set up my first snipe and won an item - at a price much lower than the value. I pictured the the enraged losers in my mind, smiled and enjoyed a glass of good red wine while setting up my next snipe....
