Beware! My calendar shows that this is a Sunday, and we all know what that means.... Roll Eyes

1. At least three people will post saying Auction Sniper messed up.

2. A regular on the board, usually Steve or Rick, will optimistically assume the newbie truly wants to know what went wrong and explain things to them.

3. The irate posters will post back, insisting it's all AS's fault their bid did not go through, and THEY would NEVER make a mistake, even though they never tried the software before last night and left a 1 second lead time.

4. Another optimistic regular will enter the line of fire by attempting to help them. They will point out possible ways things may have gone wrong.

5. The newbies will argue with them, and there will be lots of posts with lots of frowning and angry icons.

6. Rick may count to ten again.

7. Sara will post, explaining that either:
A. E-Bay hiccuped up again, or
B. They did something wrong.

8. Things will calm down by about Wednesday, then come Sunday we get to start things all over again!

Should I get a job working as a psychic for the tabloids, or are we all predictable? Big Grin Big Grin

Christine;

You've got that right. It never really DOES change. We DO each have our roles, and we stay pretty much within the script you've outlined (barring bad days/nights).

Of course, it's been awhile since anyone accused Steve of being on the payroll. And I really loved the guy that thought that AS didn't place his snipe because they were a subsidiary of ebay and ... actually I've forgotten what his theory was?

"Should I get a job working as a psychic for the tabloids, or are we all predictable?" Answer: YES Smile.
...I just posted a "thank you" follow up in the forums to some folks who gave me advice when my snipes fell through, then I ran across this thread.

I did not think I of myself as a newbie sniper, as I have been sniping long before I used Auction Sniper. I just did not know about the particular lag times and why or when they happened. When I was doing it myself, I had a feel for how long the server was taking to reload my pages, etc., as I was doing it, so I based my timing around that. You don't get that real-time feedback with AuctionSniper, and I was on a roll with winning almost every auction, and this problem had never come up before in all my time using AuctionSniper.

I, for one, am very appreciative that folks took the time to reply to my concerns that my bids weren't even placed. Shouldn't there be a top-level document in these forums that would specifically answer these concerns that you all were discussing ala a FAQ? Just reading fordfalcon's (Falcons are great, but so is my 65 'stang) post made it clear to me that this is a regular occurence (but a 1 second lead time? whatever they are smoking, it must be good). Anyway, thanks for the enlightenment. I am now a happy-camper-sniper.

You're different. Your "thanks" has been noted and appreciated. The above posts were not a statement about someone like you. PLEASE stay on this forum and continue to contribute your positive comments. Unlike you, there are some people that come on this forum and only leave trash. It's obvious you're not of that species.

Continue to enjoy AS and this forum. There are a bunch of great people on this forum.
