I have read here on the forum that using AS when trying to get unique must-have items is not the way to go. So- if I am trying to win an item that I will never get a chance again to acquire and that is very important for me to have, are there alternatives on how to make sure to get it? And paying a bit of extra money is ok.

Hi justme111,

Thanks for contributing to our forum. I do not recall us (Auction Sniper) making such a claim, but I believe I have seen a few members of our forum make recommendations in response to posts made by users who have not won such “must have” items they have sniped.

Although our system is able to successfully place 99.9% of all snipes with 5 second lead times (as described at http://www.auctionsniper.com/h...ault.aspx#basics13), there is always a small possibility that our system will be unable to bid on your behalf successfully so you may want to consider a backup plan for items you may not have the opportunity to acquire again.

For example, you could potentially place a manual bid on the item directly through eBay and also set up a snipe on the item with a higher maximum bid that would potentially come in and help secure the item if your manual bid ends up being outbid by other bidders.

If you decide to go this route, just keep in mind that, even if your manual bid ends up winning the auction, you would still end up being charged a snipe fee for the item.

Anyway, those are just my two cents on the subject. Perhaps someone who has made this specific recommendation, or has a good deal of experience pursuing “must have” items will come across this thread and share some additional recommendations.

-Mike
