Hi Steve:
Please return to my topic "Deciphering Opponent's Bidding Strategy." I left you another post there.

Oh, but I overlooked something. You said it doesn't matter what time of day or what country because the auction closes at the same time in all time zones.

When I brought up the topic of Time of Day & Country it was because of the Bidder's time zone compared with eBay's PDT zone at Auction End. Did I assume wrongly? I thought someone in Australia, for example, that's 18 hours ahead of CA's Pacific Date Time would have already bid and NOT be able to rebid in the final seconds as compared with someone in CA? I guess there's a lesson to be learned here ... I should never Assume!!! As for time of day, I was looking to see whether the person was bidding before going to work and not having access to a computer during the work-day. Lots of employers forbid recreational Internet usage while on the jobsite. Think I was way off here, huh? Okay, okay. I'm still learning. That's the great thing about the Internet, there's so much at your disposal.

Lastly, everything I'm buying on eBay is going into the making of craftwork projects for my family & relatives. I'm making Shadow Box surprise gifts. That's why I'm purchasing all the Prints, Postcards, Stamps & Cigarette Cards. I'll be making something like 15+ Shadow Boxes in all. This is an ongoing lengthy project. I think half the fun and artistry is in locating items to add to the boxes. My current themes are 1) Seashell & Sea Life, 2) Mermaids, Mermen & Sea Monsters, and 3) Seaweeds, Algae & Seahorses. Plus some special childhood memory boxes centered on 4) CA's Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. These will be for my Sisters/me/& possibly my Brothers. Depends on how many duplicate items I can scrounge. Naturally, I'm trying to buy items as cheaply as possible. That's not always possible! Sometimes I fall in love with a print, wanting it just for me, guess the artist in me appreciates it! Anyway, now you probably know more than you cared too. Big Grin

All of eBay's US auctions are based on Pacific (Daylight for now) Time. I don't know whether eBay's auctions in other countries are based on those countries' times. Be that as it may, bidders in different time zones must adjust their bid times accordingly. For instance, I'm on the East Coast (which explains my mislocation of San Jose Smile ) so I add three hours when calculating when the auction will close. I would imagine that Aussies, who can be as much as ten hours ahead of PDT, do the same sort of thing. That's what I mean when I say that eBay auctions end at the same time for everybody -- Pacific time.
Thanks for replying to my many postings, Steve. Want you to know I DO appreciate your taking the time out of your own busy scedule to answer my quiries. And also for answering everyone else's postings in the Forum, for that matter!!! We all learn from each others questions and answers, and especially from YOUR answers.

As for San Jose, don't live there now, but I'm a native. Smile
