Snipes on lost auctions?

Hi, I'm totally new to this, I search the forum but I aint sure if I put the correct keywords, anyways here it goes :

Let say I try to snipe an auction and I lose it, do I still lose my snipe or are the snipes spent only if I win the bid??

Ok so bid not win = Snipe not spent??

And if I cancel a snipe before the end of the auction it wont be spent I guess right?

Yes.

P.S. Snipe must be cancelled at least 5 minutes before close of auction. After that, it can’t be cancelled. Same 5-minutes applies to changing/increasing the bid amount, which some snipers have been known to do (frequently).
