Good morning, all,

Quick question, as I've been away for a month and perhaps something has changed?

I've just finished auctions #'d 2978693526 and 2978693531. With a 10 sec. lead time, both snipes were placed hours ahead of auctions' end. Though I won both items, one of them was only because I placed a bid through eBay after my snipe was too low.

Is there something I should know?

Thanks much,
A.

Don't know for sure, but perhaps this is still happening. It was posted above by Sara

There was a problem at our colo facility tonight from about 6:50 until 8pm. Our servers placed the snipes, but they may not have made it to eBay because of the problem in the colo.

The system is currently updating all snipes during those times and they'll likely be listed as 'Unknown' once the computer has reviewed them all. At that point you may receive your free snipes here:

We are working with the colo facility to find out why things were running slowly during that time. We have used their services for over 4 years and they have always proved to be very reliable.

We confirmed with our colocation facility that houses our servers that there was an attack on another customer at the facility last night. They found, and fixed the issue. Hopefully they can find and prosecute the hacker.

There was a DOS attack involved a colo customer from 7pm to 8:10pm.

It was caused by an XXXXXXXX service on port XXXX from a colocation customer

located at XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX. We routed the colocation customer to null. The customer has fixed the problem.

This really is bad. I am not sure if I can trust this service anymore. If it places bids hours before it should, then other people can come along and run the bid up and/or outbid you. And yes, it is still possible to be outbid even if your snipe is placed at the exact second, AS just hides your intrest in the item until the least several seconds.

You all need a new host. I'll type up a proposal and send it all to you folks - I represent a hosting company and we have our heads out of our buttocks, its apparent that your colo center dosent.

This had better get resolved in short order or I will be leaving this service and going back to doing things manually.
I am severely disappointed in Auction Sniper. In fact, I probably won't ever use them again. I lost an auction that was very important to me, because I relied on Auction Sniper. This is what occured... I placed My Snipe with a 7 second lead time a few days in advance to the auction end. I checked this morning and noticed I lost the auction. I lost the auction over a dollar. Not because of a proxy outbid, or I didn't bid enough, it was because Auction Sniper placed the bid 47 minutes early and someone came along and placed another bid within that time. What kind of S&&T is this?!?! I might as well have placed a higher bid days ago. Because of this unreliable service, I can no longer trust Auction Sniper. Don't they have someone monitoring their service? I mean come on, not a few minutes off, but 47 minutes. That is ridiculous.

Very pissed user.
