Hi,
I'm interested in winning an auction and I'm pretty sure I'm up against another Sniper. I checked his feedback and all the items he's been the winner on were won 3 seconds before the close of auction - from this I assume he's using some sort of sniper program.

So, what's my best bet for beating him? What should I set my time for? Any other advice?
THanks,

If they are using a sniping program/service, your lead time won't be a factor (other then in a case of a tie), since the snipe won't be a retaliatory snipe. With that said, I'd use 8 seconds during ebay's non-prime time.

The only thing that will matter is if you are willing to spend more then the other bidder is.
I agree. Set the snipe to 5 seconds, and put in the HIGHEST amount you are willing to go up to. This is all you really can do in this type of situation. And it will gaurantee you more success if you do this, because either you will outbid this other user at the last second, or you'll lose by not having as high a bid as him/her. By looking at the bidder's other auction winnings, you can also determine how much he/she generally spends at MAX. This should help you.

As far as the cents in your bid.. I have abandoned the $.02 theory and like to go with a completely odd amount like $.55 in case someone bid $.50, or othertimes I will do something like copy my dollar amount so if I was going to bid $15, I would bid $15.15, just in case the person believes in bidding an additional $.05 (I have lost by $.03 before with the $.02 theory)
