hello. relatively new to auction sniper, have used it about 8 times so far.
tonight i was in front of my PC so i decided to watch it in action. had my snipe set up to be posted at 5 seconds before the end of the auction and sat there and clicked refresh on the auction to watch it work
the auction was item #6030101206 and sniper placed my bid with 36 before the ending of the auction. i then watch another person bid, but not outbid me, then they bid again and topped me. was dissappointed when i watched what happened.
not too concerned as there are a lot of these items up for auction, but was dissappointed that it bid so early. the previous times it was very close to the correct time as to when it should place the bid.
any insight?
great site and service and plan on using it for as long as you are around!
thanks, marc

just to follow-up. tried AS again on another item and had the lead time set to 6 secs and the bid was placed with 7 secs remaining. worked perfectly.
read in another post where if the item is ending on the hour, 1/2 hour, etc then there is a time sync that takes place, so that is what probably happened the first time.
thanks again....
I just had an auction outsniped because the bid was placed a few seconds too early. I usually use the default 5 or 7 seconds but it was bid 9 seconds, which gave another bidder plenty of time to outbid me.
I'm considering leaving AS. They have messed up many of my snipes, the last big one was bidding almost an hour prior to auction closing. I have used AS for years, but there seems to be too high of a failure rate when compared to other services (at least from discussion with friends). I may be wrong, there might be more problems with other services, I just see the quality of AS has been going downhill.

That didn't happen to be during ebay's scheduled weekly maintenance? Looking at some of your recent auctions, I didn't see anything all that bad?
I posted about the espresso machine screwup that was a 3 minute early post here (which you did respond to). I had another one that I just gave up on when the bid was an hour early, I'll try to get a link.
It isn't just me though, I have been reading some of the problems other users are experiencing and it is getting much worse than it has ever been. Plus I pay AS quite a bit of money when there are other services that I can use for a flat yearly fee. I definitely spend more with AS than other companies' fees.

Hi Darkfrog,

If you can find the link, someone might be able to provide some insight. An hour early, unless it was during ebay’s Thursday PM/Friday AM scheduled maintenance, would definitely be unusual. Don’t have a crystal ball, so as another option you might want to file a support request and see what the tech support gurus have to say.

Hopefully everything will turn out to your satisfaction.
