snipe would not cancel. Why not?

Unfortunately, snipes cannot be cancelled two minutes or less before the end of an auction. At that point they are lined up to go in and it's too late to remove them.

Thanks for the info! I didn't know about the 2 minute thing. I cancelled a snipe just tonight, but as I think back on it, I think there was about 10 minutes to go in the auction. Glad I didn't run into the 2 minute freeze!

At the 2 minute mark we begin the process of distributing your snipe to the various computers on redundant connections to eBay throughout California. Once that process has begun a snipe can not be canceled.

Rather than posting angry faces , one could simply check the FAQ or numerous other AS locations to see what the policy and procedures are on canceling snipes, preferably before bidding

Thanks Sniper Sara for explaining the reasons behind the two minutes. That makes sense and I can accept that.

I used an icon, because at the time, I was angry. I did not find anything written anywhere about the cancellation policies or the FAQ (that is why I posted this question). I thought maybe there was a change in policy. I didn't appreciate your snotty attitude, either.

Sorry, paisan, it was not I who came in here, using angry icons in my very first post.

I said FAQ, but I meant search. If you click on search (top of the page), you will be asked to enter a keyword. By entering "cancel snipes," you will immediately see literally dozens of posts on this topic, most asking or replying to this very same question.

It does not bother at all me when people do not use search and instead ask here directly. We are pleased to provide this information here. OTOH, when people come in here, loaded and ready to fire from the first post (as in telling us what the marketable value of AS is "supposed to be"), I do find it somewhat disconcerting.

Regarding icons:

I'm of the opinion that since AS allows us to use them, then AS meant for them to be used. Also, they are an improvement over some of the words used to express anger.
