Why did I win an auction with a snipe that is only $0.30 more than the next highest bid? My last successful snipe won by just that minimal value. The next highest bid was placed several hours prior to the end of the auction. If I were to place a regular bid, the bid increment would require a bid value greater than my snipe amount. How can this work? It is as if my proxy was already registered with eBay on the date and time that I initiated my snipe request, which was days prior to auction close.
I'm not complaining, in fact quite the opposite. I'm totally satisfied and just curious.

First, "It is as if my proxy was already registered with eBay on the date and time that I initiated my snipe request, which was days prior to auction close." In case that was a question: AS doesn't have that ability. If you look at the bid history, you'll see your snipe's timestamp. That's controlled by ebay.

Second, "Why did I win an auction with a snipe that is only $0.30 more than the next highest bid?" That doesn't sound like an increment issue. I can't find any price range that has that increment amount. I see $.05, $.25, $.50 and so on, but not $.30. Was it a reserve auction? Or are you saying your snipe was $.30 more than the 2nd highest bidder, but that your closing price was either $.05 or $.25 above the 2nd highest bidder?

Could you supply auction number, or perhaps the bid history?
