I have been using this site successfully for a while.

I have my time set at 7 seconds. It has worked ever time. I have always won, provided I was not out bid.

I read through some of the threads on this board and it sounds like there is a recent problem with timing. Some guys not getting their snipes placed when using their standard previously successfull time setting.

Do I need to change my time allowed before Snipe.

I have two very important simultaneous (down to the second) auctions closing soon.

How many of you have recently been burned using your standard snipe time?

Do I need to increase my time?

thanks,

Hal

Snipes are going fine. There was a small problem on the 11th/12th due to eBay making a change. Other than that we're winning the same % as always.

7 seconds is plenty on a sunday unless they end between 5:30pm and 8:15pm. In that case I'd go with 8 or 9 seconds to be extra safe. Even 5 seconds would work 99% of the time, so the 8 or 9 seconds is just adding a small additional safety margin.

If you snipes end on any quarter hour exactly or within a few seconds you should use a 30 second lead time. i.e. if you snipe ends at exactly 7pm or 7:15, or 7:30 or 5:30 o 5:45, etc.
Sara,

I won both auctions at what I consider a very low price. I bought a matched set of Darwin's Origin of Species and Descent of Man. Editions 1861 and 1874, respectively.

I paid 78.00 total for both volumes.

One question.

I had my time set for 11 seconds. But the eBay clock shows that my bids were placed at 13 seconds. I could understand if the bids were late, but why would they be early??

I'm not complaning, I'm just wondering.
