First off, I've placed several hundred snipes and until today, they have all gone in no problem, so I'm not claiming that auctionsniper hasn't been good for me, and I'm grateful for that.

BUT, today happened to be a day where an item I was very excited about was ending -- ebay item #2763059887. My snipe was well over the next required bid increment, yet this became the first auction where my bid doesn't go through.

I went through the FAQ & it said that a "snipe is always placed." Yet checking the confirmation, there is ZERO information, and it's clear that no snipe went through, at the very least! I'm just not sure why I'm not at least getting a message like "unable to place snipe due to...." That way at least I'd know that a snipe was attempted!

Is it that very high dollar bids take longer to place? On a Friday afternoon with only one late bid placed, and that with over a minute left, this was a low traffic time for both ebay & this auction. Of all snipes not to be placed, why this one?

It's not that I'm unappreciative, but I rely on ebay for a living, and this one could really hurt. Appreciate any help!

Wrong.

That page shows our reply from eBay to the snipe we placed. All it means is that eBay didnt reply to our placing your snipe. Which as it turns out is almost always eBays fault.

I believe there is some limit on eBay where if your bid is over a certain price you have to preregister. I'm not sure if this auction is above that limit or not so it may not have come into play.

eBay farts happen at all times, on any day. That is a risk of sniping and occurs to manual or automated snipes the same. Of course most of eBays slowness issues are at peak times from 6-8pm, but sometimes for a minute here or there they arent working at almost any random time.

You mighta been chewing a little too much bubble gum because the confirmation link did work for me, and indeed does show we sniped!

And as suspected it showed eBay had an error processing your snipe. i.e. NOT our fault. As usual.

You've done 150+ snipes through us, we're good guys here, you should trust us by now. Smile When we screw up we're the first to admit it.

There is a bug on eBay. They are not accepting any bids with commas in them. Even though that is allowed, and their example bid even shows the comma! This can be tested yourself by going to any auction for over $1k and entering a bid with a comma. Since it takes you to a confirmatin link it ought to be safe to test this yourself.

What a bunch of morons.

I'm sure they'll fix it, but in the meantime we've fixed it here so we can avoid their bug.
