What is the purpose of Snipe It Now! Is this just for auctions you happen to come across or is for bidding on auctions that won't end for several hours or days?

It allows you to place your snipe NOW as opposed to having to write down the number and snipe it later.

It's just a convience thing. You just have to click a link in your web browser to snipe, rather than having to write down the auction #, or cut & paste the auction #. It makes sniping a little easier.
The sniper it now feature that can be added to your browser bar (links) is awesome because it allows you to snipe multiple items quickly as you surf through ebay's huge array of auctions. Snipe it now allows you to quickly edit the amount of your max bid and ensures that you don't make a mistake entering in the auction number. It is awesome !!!
