Snipe Failure - why? | Auction Sniper

Auctionsnipe failed to place a bid for me on this auction last night, otherwise I would have won the item. The only explanation in my "Lost Bids" page on this was "Bid Too Low."
Lead time on this snipe was the default 3 seconds. I have never experienced this failure with Auctionsnipe before.

Why did this snipe fail to place a bid?

If your snipe was less than one increment above the winning bid then the AS message is correct. If it was more than one increment above then there's an error.
BTW, 8 seconds is the (forum) recommended lead time.

So if everyone supposedly knows 8 seconds is the recommended lead time, why is AS defaulting to 5?

Good question, rpr. This next question might be of interest to you. Seeing that AS sometimes places a snipe several seconds before the specified lead time, why does AS allow the user to specify ANY lead time?

By the way, you DID notice you can’t specify a lead time of less than 3 seconds? In fact, for a while, AS didn't allow less then 5 seconds.
