I've recently encountered a couple of US sellers who only accept cheques (checks!) or bankers' drafts. They say they will sell worldwide but do they not realise that these methods of payment costs lots of money to us foreigners?

Then there are those that accept Western Union. It works, the buyer pays the fees so I can see the attraction to sellers. But, what happens when things go wrong? It's a bit like posting a hundred dollar bill to a total stranger and then hoping they'll send you the goods. If they don't then your only comeback is with eBAY ('nuff said!).

So, if any American Sellers are reading this and they want to shift stuff outside their shores (there is life out there!) then make it easier for us (and increase your potential market and price) by offering PayPal. It's safe, it's relatively cheap and it works.
